How permanent lighting works

A permanent system is a line of weatherproof LED fixtures installed along the fascia or roofline and connected to a controller. Each light can produce a very wide range of colors, so one installation covers every holiday and every ordinary night in between.

The controller connects to an app. From there you pick a preset or build your own look, and change everything in seconds when the occasion changes. Our app-based options use Bluetooth technology, so you control the ambiance right from your smartphone or tablet.

During the day the system is meant to stay in the background. The goal is that you notice the lighting at night and the house during the day.

Permanent, seasonal or both

Permanent lighting takes the place of the roofline portion of a Christmas display and gives you color the other eleven months. It does not replace wreaths, garland, bows and wrapped trees or palms, which are what give a holiday display its fullness.

That is why many clients have both: permanent lighting on the roofline, and a seasonal holiday lighting display for the greenery and the trees. If you mostly want a clean roofline in December and something fun for game days and birthdays, permanent lighting alone may be all you need.

Permanent lighting compared with hanging lights each year

A seasonal display is installed in the fall and removed in January. It is the right choice if what you love is the full Christmas look and you only want lights for the holidays.

A permanent system is installed once. There is no annual installation or takedown for the roofline, and the lighting is available on any night of the year. It makes sense if you would use it for more than December: game days, summer holidays, parties and everyday accent lighting.

Neither is better. They answer different questions, and we install both.

Everyday use

The holiday colors get the attention, but the feature owners use most is plain white. A soft warm white along the roofline works like architectural accent lighting. It gives the house presence at night, lights the perimeter and makes the address easy to find.
